On September 20, 2024, Guam health officials confirmed a second case of pertussis (Bordetella pertussis, or whooping cough). Epidemiologic investigation and contact tracing were underway to identify the source of exposure and additional exposures. The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) stressed the importance of vaccination to protect against the disease.
