The Emergency Rental Assistance program was created to help renters cover their housing-related costs and stay in stable housing during the pandemic. The Emergency rental assistance can help you cover back rent utilities – electricity, water, and trash removal that came due during the COVID-19 pandemic.Rental assistance may also cover reasonable late fees, and other rental-related fees—such as security deposits.
Eligible applicants may be able to receive up to 18 months of assistance to ensure housing stability while grantee funding is available. Once a household's arrears are reduced, grantee may only commit to providing future assistance for up to three (3) months at a time. Households may apply for continuance of assistance for additional relief support at the end of the three-month period if needed and the overall time limit for assistance has not been exceeded.
To qualify, you must have experienced financial hardship during the pandemic and meet local income requirements, and demonstrate a risk of homelessness or housing instability.
